BRK, one of our detection suppliers, has redesigned its professional smoke and CO alarm lineup. Fewer part numbers, and several changes aimed at easier installs. We’re bringing the new line into stock — here’s what’s changing.

What’s New in the Product
- SoftCue™ Low Battery Pre-Warning — avoids middle-of-the-night chirps
- Side-loading battery drawer — no dismounting or cutting power
- LED indicators — faster diagnostics on service calls
- Larger test/silence button
- Same wiring harness — no adapters for BRK-to-BRK swaps (ADF-12/ADK-12 for competitive models)
- Optional trim ring — covers the old footprint, no touch-ups
- Smart Interconnect on hardwired models, including a new heat alarm pattern
Certification Changes
CSA 6.19-17 2nd Edition — new CO alarms ship August 1, 2026. Current CO stock remains sellable.
UL 2034 5th Edition — effective June 3, 2027, applies to CO and combo alarms manufactured after June 1, 2027. This is based on date of manufacture only and does not affect sell-through of inventory already on our shelves.
Key updates: tougher environmental and AC power transient testing, expanded coverage (RVs, mobile homes, boats, hotels, restaurants), and clearer markings — “Move to fresh air” becomes “Exit to fresh air.”
